Call for Papers: Conference on Gender, Nature, and Ecology

Currently no news

We are pleased to invite submissions for the upcoming conference titled "Gender, Nature, and Ecology: Articulating the Political-Intellectual Traditions of French and German Ecofeminism in a Global Perspective." The conference will take place on October 7-8, 2024, at the University Paris 8.

The conference is divided into three interrelated thematic streams:

1) Articulations of the concept of nature: What are the theoretical challenges and reformulations of the concept of nature and how do they uphold the complex task of avoiding both the naturalization of social structures while accounting for and adequate understanding of the materiality of the non-human world?

2) Inter-/transnational trajectories: In which ways and via which trajectories have the local forms of ecofeminism been construed? How is the global and colonial dimension of the ecological disaster reflected in various ecofeminist traditions and what are remaining open questions and blind spots?

3) Practices and strategies of translation: What resistance do translation attempts of texts encounter? How does the shape of academic fields such as gender studies, philosophy or political sciences structure the circulation or non-circulation of concepts and theories?
