Simone da Silva Ribeiro Gomes (summer term 2023)
Dr. Simone Gomes is an associate professor in Sociology at Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel) since 2018. Gome's research interests are Social Movements, Crime and Violence and Gender Theory. She holds a PhD in Sociology (IESP-UERJ), a MSc in Sociology (Paris 7) and Social Psychology (UERJ) and a BA in Psychology (UFRJ) . Also, she was visiting scholar at UNAM- Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (2014-2015). She is currently interested in how violence shapes feminist trajectories in Latin America, focusing on how narcotrafficking, police violence, and State repression inhibit gender mobilizations.
