The Margherita von Brentano Center holds the following core tasks:

• To develop and implement measures that support and cultivate connections both within Gender Studies as rooted in specific subject areas at Freie Universität and through the collaborative, interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary involvement of Gender Studies research in joint projects (especially in the international context)
• To stimulate, support, and document the development of course offerings and research projects
• To develop and implement independent research projects as part of integrating the duties of the Interdisciplinary Center
• To offer opportunities for academic exchange to students and scholars from Freie Universität and other institutions and to create opportunities for collaboration

The Margherita von Brentano Center’s main tasks were stipulated in a statute approved by the Academic Senate of Freie Universität Berlin, published in the Official Gazette of Freie Universität Berlin on November 18, 2015 (in German).
